A story like a few others in the Cimiez district, which is one of the reasons why Nice is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its winter resort spirit.
The Regina Hotel, built at the end of the 19th century, welcomed the first foreign tourists from the European aristocracy attracted by the mild winter climate - long before the fashion for crowded beaches - in the wake of the British monarch, Queen Victoria.
